I have a '00 F250, long bed, supercab, 4X4, 5.4L, automatic with 4:10 limited slip rearend. I really like the truck but I would like more power. I have heard talk of power chips and Flowmaster exhaut systems. Anyone have similar set-ups? What are the prices for those? I'm getting ready to install a K&N filter also, hopefully that will help a little too. Thanks in advance.
Both the K&N Air system and a Cat-Back exhaust will increase your horsepower and torque. I have the K&N aircharger and a Gibson cat-back system and noticed a difference in power. If you want to run a chip you will HAVE to use 92 octane gas. If you are not willing to make that commitment then go with the aircharger and the cat-back. A chip will give you additional power as well. I am going to be getting a chip very soon, but don't have any experience with them right now. Danny in the Computer chip section can give you additional info if you need it. Headers are always another way to increase HP but the cost is much more than the exhaust, air system, and chip combined.
How much power you looking for? Chips and exhaust and filters might get you 30-40hp. If you really want to step it up, think about a supercharger, or trade for a 6.8 or 7.3. (not knocking you 5.4 guys, it's just a fairly small engine for such a heavy rig)
I don't need a huge amount of extra power, just a little more. I would have went with the V-10 when I ordered it but I was still a little gun shy after the piston slap problem they had in '99. Thanks.
