I have a 1999 Superduty powerstroke. Many of the aftermarket parts available specifiy early or late model. What changes were made between early and late model 99 superduties and when was the cutoff date. Are the differences suspension, engine or what? How do i know which i have. My SD has a manufacture date of 4/99. Any help is appreciated.
The ones I know of are the pitman arm, track bar bracket and front u-bolts. I don't know the exact cutoff date though. I've heard different rumors. What aftermarket parts are you looking at? If it's suspension lift stuff I might be able to help.
I am looking at the Rancho 4" lift system. I read somewhere that the way to tell is to look at the size of the bolt used to attach the track bar to the frame bracket. I have also noticed that many of the engine mods (Banks power pack, air raid intake, etc.) specify early or late 99 model year and i was wondering what those differences are as well.
I replaced my front wheel bearings about 2 months ago. Because my build date is Jan 99 for my f250 scsd the bearings cost me $2000.00 Canadian for both front wheels.. The shop told me they would have been less than 1/2 that if I had a late 99 build date. Sorry I do not know when the cut off date is.

The ubolts on the front end are sqaure on top, and the air box is right behind the battery on the driverside fender well. It draws air from behind the grill through a duct between the battery and the engine. Uses one of the swuare flat filters. It sounds like mine is probably the late model. Does anyone know when the cutoff date was?
I am considering a Fabtech lift and the information that they provided me is as follows:
To confirm production date/application, measure the hex head portion of the pivot bolt attaching the front differential track bar to the frame drop bracket. Trucks built prior to March of 1999 will have a 5/8" head and trucks built after March of 1999 will have a 1 3/16" head.
Being that mine was built July of 1998 it was easy for me to figure out which one mine is!!
The cut-off for the built dates are 3/99. If you have a build date prior to that your truck would be an "early 99". There are quites a few differences that are either engine or suspension related. I have found a few other odds and ends for the differences: On the tailgate, the F250/F350 emblem will not have "SUPERDUTY" under it, the front fender emblems were changed to the door for diesels, and the others have been listed.
Thanks for the info. My date code from the plate inside the door says 4/99, but the truck has the 5/8" bolt head on the track bar bracket, and the square top ubolts on the front axle. I am guessing that this means it is the 99 model rather than the 99.5 model. What are the differences in the engine mods?
If you have a 4 /99 you should have the big track rod and bolts..
Not the bracket the rod itself should have monster bolts..Also B4 march the rotors and front bearings are different...Mine is a 3/3 98 so I've been through it..Havn't heard of an older one yet...

Man Dick, you must of jumped on the SD when it just came out. I waited a little bit, but I got a sweet offer on my old truck ('77 F-150) and the dealer made me an excellent deal on my new SD so it all fell into place that summer. You are the only one that I have hear with an older SD than mine. Cheers!!!
