'04 Explorer transmission
Anybody know of any problems here. I have an '04 4.6 V-8 with 5500 miles and I think I have a transmission problem. Feels like slippage. I've felt some grinding coming away from lights and when turning corners, it feels like it downshifts to first but before it engages, it revs (freewheels) slightly before kicking in. I've heard that Ford has had some transmission problems the last few years and I wonder if this is one of them. Could have been delivered w/o fluid for all I know as there is no dipstick.

Yea it definetely sounds like a low fluid problem to me with the grinding noise and slippage. I would take it to the dealer asap because driving with low fluid can cause a lot of damage to the transmission components (metal rubbing against metal with no lubrication).
