I wanted to know if I will run into any problems installing summit's truck headers on my '96 302? Like O2 sensor or anything like that. I'm also planning to get one of those Power Programmer III things.....are they any good? They are part # HYP-41016 at summitracing.com. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Well, people on this forum have had a few issues (collector diameter is larger than the y-pipe, trouble getting bolt holes lined up), but other people haven't had any problems. It seems as though Summit puts different manufacturer's headers in their boxes, so it's just luck of the draw which ones you get.
Haven't had any problems with my shorty headers. I believe they were pacesetters. Almost everyone that I have talked to said they had the same problem with the collector diameter is larger that the stock pipe.
Another thing is the bolts for the collectors are too long.
I'd throu out the gaskets that came with em too. It wouldn't hurt to get the nice expensive ones, because the driverside is a pain in the butt to install.

I agree, definitely get some good gaskets, mine were leaking within 1000 miles. It would also be a good idea to get the Stage 8 locking header bolts with them. Then you never have to worry about them working loose and causing the gasket to blow. I also run a tap into the threads with some oil to make it easier for the bolts to screw in and you will also be able to torque them properly. Good luck and they are definitely worth price for the added performance you get.
