We have a 99 F250 Super Duty with a 5.4 auto 14.300 miles on the truck We just had a headgasket replaced last week a new coil pack wires sparkplugs. My wife drives the truck down the road and the truck almost stalls. Can someone give us some input to what might be the problem. Also the other work was done at the Ford dealership.
Does it throw a code or anything, check engine light? Do a fuel pressure check, if your fuel pump or filter is ad you will have low fuel pressure and the truck will stall. I have a friend with a 97 chevy 1500 and his pump went out, couldn't get above 3000 RPM. I could check fuel pressure, if that is good no sense in replacing the filter because if you have good pressure no need to replace it other than regular maitnince. Otherwise they might have messed something up when they installed the new head gaskets. Is the truck using coolant or anything? Might want to do a leakdown test on each cylender and make sure they did not mess something up when they reinstalled the heads. if you have no codes, it is surprising because i would think it would throw a misfire code, but you never know.
Man that's got to be depressing! Only 14k on it and you had to replace all the COP's? Plus a head gasket? I'd sure let Ford have a piece of my mind...not that it would do any good.
Keep us posted. I want to know how this comes out, I have two 5.4's!! My 2003 only has 9k on it...hope I'm not looking at any similar problems down the road.
