Occasionally, when I "roll" my windows up in my 99 EB, there is an audible thunk or pop as they seat. Both driver side and passenger side fronts do this occasionally. Hasn't happened yet on the rears.
anyone else have this problem? Does it portend bad things?
I had similar sounds on my '98 drivers side window. Complained about it when I first bought the truck (30K miles) but dealer never messed with it cause it worked fine. Traded truck at 118K miles and never had any problems - just a little noisy.
I have a '98 Expo and I have the same problem. It doesn't do it all the time but it still does it. I've never had any other issues with the window so I've never had it checked out. Let us know if you find anything out.
Likewise with my '98. I get that thunk on my driver's side mostly. I notice it happens when it's really cold out and the rubber doesn't move to well when the window pane wants to resit itself. Usually when it get warmer out the problem basically goes away. Try to wiggle (spread them apart with your fingers)the rubber gaskets where the pane sits in, this works for me most of the time.
The "thunk" is most of the time caused by the upper molding that the window seats into. Take your hand and lighty "open" the molding. That is to say, make the part that the window seats into, a little wider. Mine used to do it and this fixed it right away.
My wife's EXPY (bought it used) did it from day one. Driver's door only. Had it in the shop 2 previous times(for other issues) and both times NTF. Finally on the third trip, I explained how frustrated I was, the fixed it. I need to get a copy of the slip for the exact fix. I remember something about adjusting the glides or stops or both. But, it has been about 4 months or so and it did it once the other day.
