Quad, do you have larger injectors or stock?

I just checked with the service manager at the dealer I get my warranty work done at, and he said the only vehicle that shares the same tranny as the SD is the Lightning, but that's because it is rated for 390hp, otherwise the SD tranny is specific to the SD line. The Lincolns have the Mustang motor in them. This guy has been right on the ball since he started there.

So who's right and how (or where) can I figure this out?

Stock injectors for now. What makes you ask, Ken?

Frost13 are you saying that there is 4 gears plus an overdrive gear? or are you saying that there is 4 gears total, and the "4th" gear is O.D? My truck will shift three times, 1-2, 2-3, 3-OD. My last truck the 98 would just drive me nuts going up some semi steep mountian road. Turn the OD off, and it would shift between 3rd and 4th all the time, if it stayed in 3rd would of been fine, would have to settle for driving in 2nd just to keep it from shifting Up and Down all the time. Just trying to clear a few things up.

The SC Microtuner works very well with propane injection as does any chip up to about 100 hp or one without advanced timing. You should be able to get the full advertised power increase of the chip/programmer as well as at least 80 additional hp from the propane. WIth chips 125hp and above, timing is generally advanced to create the extra ponies.

The reason I asked is you should be able to get that kind of power (180) if the injectors are larger. The stock can put out 130+, some claim 140 (I've yet to see a dyno chart that backs that up with stock injectors) though you're starting to push the duty cycle when you go higher.

Up to 1997 the trannys are the same, now they are different but before they were the same.

What chip are you running?
With my DI chip and Propane I'm making 380 RWHP

If you are afraid of scattering a tranny, i would suggest not running the chip with the propane, because my last pull of last year was my most expensive. It was the first one after i had installed the propane, took 2nd place with a 308' , but i didnt more than leave the fairgrounds and i was callin for someone to bring a bucket to hold all of the gears that i had to pick up off the street. Coincidence?

Footnote: I went with the jasper rebuilt E4OD, 30,000 mile, 3-year warrany. I figure i can scatter this one before then.

I had heard the same about the tranny in the sd being the same as the one in the f-150 with different planetary gears to handle the power of the diesel, didn't seem to work very well as I am on my second tranny and I baby that truck. The local ford dealer keeps those trannys in stock because they change them so often.

I have a Diablo Delta chip.
I've dyno'ed my truck without a chip and ran 194, with the "54hp tow chip" and ran 219, with the "100hp extreme chip" and ran 224. The propane kicks it up to 290.
Gene- are your numbers from a dyno?

The numbers are from the dyno event at SCT Perfomance.
I did 370 rwhp at our dyno event at Sunrise Ford in Fontana Ca.
I'm running an extreme chip program from Diesel Innavations.
