Why is it that every time I do a search for something simple, and gets covered say, once a week, like swapping a 460 in place of a 351M I only get 3 hits for stuff nowhere related to what I want to see?? Yes I do know how to use Boolean logic, and no it doesnt seem to help. I have tried every search option, and have to resort to manually looking through everything. Even if I was to do a search for someting on a current topic, say something that is posted as the subject, NOTHING comes up what you are looking for? What am I doing wrong here?

Tony - I've had the same problem with the search function. I used it about 1 1/2 years ago and it worked like a charm. But here lately it seems to not do the trick. I've typed in key words, checked the archives and everything else looking for particular information that was in posts I've read before and get the same result as you described.
Ken - the only one I've ever used was the one on the message board, up top where the login is. Just assumed the one on the right was the same thing. Are they different? I'll give it a try.
The one by the login does NOT support boolean logic. If you put the search "engine AND 390 AND oil NOT chevy" it will search for the words "engine and 390 oil not chevy". You have to put in your words and under the search box select "AND" or "OR" search (you can't mix and match).
Also, it defaults to searching only the section you're in so make sure you select the section you want. I've never had a problem finding what I need in it. The search on the right side of the search is FAST (1-2 seconds) and supports boolean logic. Its drawback is that it does a side-wide search, not a message board only searching. Its also update at 3 am so its not a "live" search.

Sorry Ken. I didn't mean this to sound like a complaint, more as a question on how to make the search function of the board work for me.
I "just" now tried the search link next to the login and it came up with a lot more "relevant hits than the other search link. 90 something hits, instead of 3 for the term "460 swap". I guess I know to try both search features now. Thanks guys.
