I have a 1978 ford truck with a c6 and I have a 429 out of a f700. Can someone tell me if this has been done. I have taken all the measurments and everything seems to line up. I have no way to put the engine in yet but soon I will.
The guy I got it from said it was a 429. But it might be a 370ci That seems to be the more comon engine for the f700. I hope it will work because I have already rebuilt it and it was not cheap.

if your truck had (or has) a 351M (not W), 400 or 460 you don't have to find a new trany. if it had a 300 or 302 them you need to find a BB trany. if your truck has a 460 then it just an engine swap. if it had a 351m/400 then you need motormounts and other stuff. L&L makes a nice swap kit if its 4X4.
From what has been said on the 385 board, the industrial motors are quite different from the light duty blocks, pretty sure they won't interchange, but best check on the 385 board.
Yep,the guys are correct-the 429 that came out in F600-up in the late 70's-early 80's is a low rpm industrial motor. It peaks out hp at around 3200 rpm versus 4200 on a 460 car motor.
