hi all,
going to replace the clutch in the truck next weekend. planning on using the LUK single mass upgrade.
here is the question:
so when I pull the tranny from the motor I need to support the motor so it don’t lean back. on most cars I did this on before, a block of wood under the oil pan with a jack stand would work to support the engine with out damaging the oil pan. but since the diesel so much heavier than I'm used to . just wandering if this will work, or will I end up with a distorted oil pan ?
also figuring on replacing the rear main oil seal oil seal . do you really need the installation tool. Has any one tried with out this tool and had problems.
made it to 165000 on orignal clutch. guess I can't fuss too much.
I towed mine home with no tranny in it behind my old john deere. Didnt hurt nothen. even started the engein up with it just hangen there. This is how i bought the truck since the previous owner had removed the automatic tranny when it blew and then sold it minus a tranny. When i put my new five speed tranny in i used a block of wood and a floor jack to raise the back of the engtien up slightly to get it all to line up and slide together. just go real easy on the jack and i dont think yall bend the oil pan as long as ya use a nice big piece of wood that does not hit the drain plu and put all the pressure rite on the drain plug. Good luck. although the clucthes are real easy to do on these trucks.
