I have a 1995 Ford F-150 with approx 77K miles. For the past few years I have had the same exact problem! When the weather is cold - the truck runs great. When the weather gets warmer the RPMs start going crazy, the engine light comes on quite often, but shuts off within a few seconds. Sometimes the RPMs kick up and come right back down to make the truck stall. Other times I'll be driving along and will step on the gas, but there's nothing! I have been to several dealers, their computers show nothing except O2 sensor, which has been recently changed. Also, a tune-up was recently done, but no change in problem. Why does warm weather affect the running of the truck? Why don't computers pick this problem up? Help!!!! Thanks.
Check the wires at the o2 sensor one may be broken and the computer is not getting the proper reading giving it too much or not enough fuel or change CTS, does it run hot on warm days? mabe thermastat stuck?
Hi Waljon - thanks for the reply. The truck doesn't get warm at all. The temp stays the same. When the O2 sensor was replaced, they stated the wires were checked... but who knows. Will definitely have it checked again. But it is the O2 sensor that continually comes up on the computer - even after replacing it twice!
