Creaking Noise
In my 2000 Explorer I knoticed while i was going over a speed bump that is has a Creaking noise coming from the front (kind sounds like a door that needs some WD-40) Do you think i need to replace my shocks ( it only has 44000 miles ) or do i need to greese something

don't discount inner tie rods
I had creaking on my 98xlt 2wd and it turned out to be the inner tie rods where they meet the steering rack. I think there is a TSB for this for the 96's. Ford had a hard time diagnosing the problem in my case and I was glad, as my warranty was about to expire at 60k mi, so that I wasn't out of pocket for the repair. I have been through most of the postings on this site. Non-greasable ball joints ( no zercs) leading to failures and binding inner and outer tie rods appear to be a more common problem for these vehicles than for the general class of vehicles as a whole.

Binding inner tie rods
I had a similar problem on my 98 at 40,000 miles. The dealer "couldn't" find the problem. It turned out to be the inner tie rods binding up. We were able to remove the clip on the boot and run a small tube from a can of silicone lubricant into the boot to lubricate it. It worked great. Be sure to replace the clip on the boot.
