I have a 2000 Expy EB 2Wd, with 60,000k. When driving on the highway between 65-70 mph i get a vibration in the front end, but at 75 - up. it stops. any ideas?????
I had the tires balanced, and rotated. but it still vibrates at 65-70. nothing before that speed and then nothing after 70. could it be my sway bar lingage? i have heard alot about those in here.
Check it, and if it is missing, replace the linkage. My expy pulled to the left, but I was also missing the linkage there. Also, try removing fuse 104 and seeing if the vibration goes away. Removing the fuse will disable the A4WD, and should rule out the 4wd as a soure of the vibration.
the steering wheel, just vibrates along with it. it is not a violent vibration. just feels like i'm driving over gravel or something. but as soon as I drop slower then 65, or speed up over 70, it stops and drives smooth .. and yes it did it before the tires were rotated/balanced and before i had the front end aligned. mistercmk, thanks for your input really appreciated, but it is a 2WD... I going to check out the linkage tomorrow, thanks again to all who replied. By the way I am new here and so far love the forum. I am Dan from Phoenix, AZ. I have the 2000 Expy EB 2WD, and a 2003 Ranger Edge. thanks again
never thought about tie-rod ends.. could it also be sway bar linkage? I plane on changing out the sway-bar and bushings. I guess I'll check on the tie rod ends as well. The Tires are Goodyear. not sure how old they are, as I got my Expy at an auction. They still have alot of thread on them. I guess I'm off to the dealer tomorrow for a front end check. I'll let you know the results... thanks everyone for your replies..

The Goodyears that came from the factory were pretty lousy (not quite as bad as the Grabbers mine came with though)...don't know if yours are original. I have a buddy with a 2002 XLT that came with Goodyears. Everytime I rode in his Expy, I wanted to tell him he had a bad wheel bearing, just thump-thump-thump. He recently had BFG Long Trails put on and its absolutely like a different truck, smooth and quiet. He had been rotating and balancing those Goodyears over and over.
My fasther-in-law owned his own garage for 35 years, it was an alignment shop. People would come in with this same problem. He told them anytime the vibration changes or goes away with change in speed, its the tires or the wheels, they either can't be balanced or the rims are slightly damaged. Thats it, plain and simple. Anything else would cause a uniform problem at any speed.
Thanks Mark, that is some great info. i guess I'll start looking for some new tires. I checked the wheels, they seem ok, no dents or anything that I can see, so i'lll start with the rubber. I look into those BFG's pounder, thanks... take care guys and again thanks for the replies....
