where do i plug in the electric brake connection for my camper brake controller? does it plug into the back of the fuse panel where the fuse is that controls the camper brake? i have a 2004 F250 diesel with tow package. i have the ford connector on the brake unit.
They are both right. Rmv the cover under your steering wheel. Look to the right side and you'll see it. However, you will have to buy a fuse for the panel under the hood. If memory serves me right I think it was a 30 amp.
If you intend to have lights only, head to the parts store and buy a plug in kit from Litemate or equivalant specifically for your vehicle and follow the directions. If trailer brakes are needed also purchase a brake controller and follow the directions.
Be sure the brake controller is for the number of brakes on the trailer. Good luck. If your referring to your 250 SD if should already be equipped with a trailer plug. There should also have been a wiring harness for a brake controller.
Make sure you have patience and lots of 12-14 gauge wire. I recently wired my 30' motorhome - not a hard job, just a timley one. Good luck - and follow the directions, shortcuts are never a good thing with brakes!
Good point. Plenty of wire and no short cuts. A good idea is to purchase a roll(s) of wire so you can go the whole distance without a splice. Short cuts usually mean one thing sooner or later. A short in the wires or no brakes.

The new trucks are real easy to hook a brake controller up,just get the plug adapter that came in your glovebox splice to your new or old brake controller wiring, then remove fuse panel under steering wheel and then the plug is there grey and red. Seems a popular place to mount the controller is right under the cubby hole to the right of the steering wheel. Then just make sure you have the fuse for the trailer accessories, seems ford left out this .02cent fuse on some trucks.
