What could it be

The 352 in my 65 Galaxie has screw in freeze plugs on one side and press in on the other, any reason why this was done, I mean I guess it is a 352 I havent checked the stroke yet, but ofcourse the only number on the whole block besides the date is C6ME and I've never heard of a 352 with screw in freeze plugs. Any ideas.

Has the engine been rebuilt? The only idea I can come up with is if while it was rebuilt someone tried to put to big of a plug in and muffed things up so they decided to thread the hole in order to get the freeze plug to seal properly

C = 1960-69 ---> Which decade
6 = Year in that decade
M = Mercury ---> Which carline
E = Engine Group --->Which engineering group

I was told it had been rebuilt, one plug looks like a normal screw in type but the other looks like a flat peice of round metal with a tap on it. So yeah im confused but always been curious about this.

Sounds like he has the expandable neoprene freeze plugs, which do have a flat piece of round metal and a stud.

You'd best get those things out. They are OK for a quick fix, but I wouldn't trust them. I've had them blow out on me more than once. If you're going to use them, make sure to change them at least once a year, as they get rotten after awhile.
