if i try to start it turns once barely and thats it. am i missing something?
relay?
reallly confused.
plz help
Turn your headlights on & try it again, see if they stay bright or dim right out.
If she still does it when cold, better go back & recheck the solenoid, the cables and of course, the starter.
If your alternator is good as you say, probably the wire connector on the alternator to the battery might be loose or bad.
While driving and the alternator is not charging the battery, the battery is being drained by the vehicle accessories and power consumption and so your vehicle just stops because the battery is drained.
To verify this, get your battery charged up by a battery charger or switch another battery from another vehicle. I usually use a battery charger with Engine start and uses AC as the power source. Once your battery is fully charged, then try to crank it to see if the engine turns over and stay running. If it does start, check the voltage on the battery, you should get 14 Volts approx. if the alternator is working.
and charged the battery.. but its also brand new.
and tried starting it with the charger on start...
and still
just turns once and sounds like the batt is dead but its not.
If that starter still would only turn once, either the flywheel gears or starter gears might be messed up.
I hope the gears are fine, just try to hit the starter with a hammer and try cranking it again.
BTW, make sure the starter bolts are tight and not loose.
