I was doing some "Pulling" this weekend with my 01 SD 5.4 3:73 Limited slip. My dad noticed that only one rear tire was spinning and the other never did. Now I am a little ticked off because I paid for the limited slip rear end and my sticker says I have it but apparently I was screwed
anyone else ever notice their own axle? sure that they work?
Joneser
Nope. Limited means it works only a "limited" amount of time. Usually it doesn't when you need it the most.
The only other option is some sort of locker. But you have to be careful here. Full time lockers can affect the ride. The real good ones are near $1000 I think.
You may look at a locker in the front only. That way it doesn't affect normal 4x2 driving. I had a lock-rite in the front of my 150. Great locker but I couldn't drive on any pavement or hard packed surface. The steering couldn't be controlled because both wheels were locked.
Sometimes it helps to use the brakes and apply the power. I think it helps the clutches tighten up. There is a "soft locker" avalible that is easilly installed. It's made by Lok-Right I believe. I have had a few close calls with my 4x2 with LS. It work OK for me. I'm sure having my hunting tires on (Dunlop M/T's) helped too.
I'm one of the lucky few that got a L/S that actually works, but just FYI, ARB makes air lockers for both the Dana 50 front and the Sterling 10.5" rear.
I have an appointment tuesday to have it looked at.
To be honest, Im a little ticked. They are giving me big ***** about "How do you know it isnt working" Like they're fishing for some kind of abuse or a way to get out of it. I like the salesman but the Garage guys are kind of meatheads. Oh well. The damn truck is 2 weeks old and RIGHT is RIGHT
My dad just bought a Supercrew f150 4 days before I bought my SD and he payed for the Towing package and it looks like the only part of the package he got was the 7pin harness
Radiator is wrong etc...
makes me think about looking into whats under my hood ya know?
