Disconnect battery?

Disconnect battery?
89 F-250. I am taking a damp rag and manually wiping down my engine. It has many layers of dust from hauling a horse trailer on the backroads. This may sound dumb, but should I disconnect the battery while doing this?

Not disconnecting the battery should be fine. I made the mistake of shorting the main cable from the alternator to the battery with my wrist watch. It welded the watch band together (on my arm) and burned the crap out of for wrist. My advice...take off any jewlery..
