I'm having a little problem getting the right information that I need to finish painting my truck. It's a 1986 F150 and the paint job was really bad on it, but before I thought about it I had already sanded and primed half of the truck: the whole cab, all I have left to sand and prime is the bed. Anyways, I'm alittle short on cash, What I need to know is if it would be worth using that automotive canned spray paint you can by at Walley World and will it at least last a year, how many coats of paint and clear do I use.I have alot of other problems but I'm figuring them out little by little. I was just hoping that someone here would know something about this. I'm really hopeing that it will work because I really need a paint job and I can't come up with that much money right this moment. Thank you.

Sounds likes you have the disease, a lot of us have. A Cadillac finish with a Pinto wallet.
There is no easy answer to your problem. It all gets down to, "You get what you pay for." If you pay for wally world paint, you get a wally world finish. If you want a PPG show car finish, you pay for PPG products.
Most of your dime store, rattle can paints are designed to offer limited protection. Great for touching up a metal lawn chair but not designed to handle auto finishes, exposed to long term weather and road conditions.
Will wally world paint look good when you spray it on? I suspect it will, assuming you do the proper prep work. Will you be happy with the results 6 months from now? I don't know. My guess would be, no.
