[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-Jun-02 AT 06:47 AM (EST)]I am in trouble. I am about to sell the p-up that I bought for my wife from my uncle that he bought new. the prob. is that it is a Chev that gets a max 8 mpg. It is a built 350 that has 105,000 miles w/20,000 on the running gear. 4x4
I like having a radical runner but, I want a crew cab f-350 more. I have found one but she don't like it. She don't like my '72 either, but, she understands that it is like one of my children. The crew is very rough and they are asking a pretty high price for it but, I like the truck. She'll go along with whatever I do but, I don't know if I am doing right or wrong, what do you think?
That depends on how well you like sleeping in your bed versus sleeping in the truck.
Seriously, I made the mistake once of buying a vehicle without my wife's agreement. Notice I said "ONCE". Some lessons are hard learned and well remembered.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-Jun-02 AT 10:05 AM (EST)]How are you going to justify buying another vehicle for YOU when you have the 2 you list already? You want to sell HER truck so you can buy another one for YOU? Sounds kind of selfish to me. If she likes the Chevy, let her keep the Chevy and sell one of YOUR trucks. That would be the FAIR thing to do. If you take care of your wife and keep her happy, she will be less likely to oppose you. Even though she says she will go along with your decision, she will still hold it against you. Women are like elephants-they NEVER FORGET ANYTHING!!! Can you afford to keep the Chevy and still buy the crew cab? Wouldn't that make her happy?
P.S.- Please don't show your wife this post. If she sees the elephant comparison, she will probably take it out of context and come looking for me. I know my wife would!

I know how you feel I too am in a similiar situation right now.
Not that I like Chevy's or anything but this is a good deal. My wife right now has a Pontiac Grand Prix that is bordering 200,000 miles and is regularly startting to show signs of it use. It runs good but the tranny is startting to go the struts are shot it creaks over every bump needs new tires. Well it is just startting to cost alot to keep her going. I found a 1988 4x4 Chevy Blazer full-size for $700.00 all it needs is a fuel pump and it has a diesel in it the body is really nice and the interior is excellent we have 3 kids so the grand prix is actually getting to small with the kids growing up. But she doesn't want the Blazer she wants to drive the Pontiac till it dies.
I fell take the car to the auction now and get the money and Run right now I know I would get atleast $1200.00 from the auction for the car. The Blazer is so cheap cuz the guy who has it is a auto wholesaler and I help tow vehicles for him when I have time and he needs help. Plus the Blazer would be nice to pull the boat up the mountains to the lake along with the whole family. But she refuses to see the benifits of the Blazer over her car.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-Jun-02 AT 11:09 AM (EST)]AZ4x4f150, be careful of that diesel Blazer. If it has the 6.2, they were troublesome and required lots of maintenance and lots of know-how. The injector pumps go bad and are a pain to get timed. That is probably why it is so cheap. That engine is less than desirable for everyday use.
I have a rebuilt 350 to go in and replace the diesel when it dies.
I have workied on the 6.2's in the past and know they are a pain but not nearly as bad as those 350's they tried to turn into a diesel. I also have a rebuilt 454 to put in it when it goes out. Hmmm
why do I have all these darn Chevy engines and only 1 extra Ford engine????? I think I better redo my inventory here,,lol
I'm keeping the 351W for my 82 F150 and going to rebuild the 302 that is in it now. The Chevy engines I got cheap just to rebuild and sell but I never sold them cuz always thinking I might get something someday for them to go into. Same with the 15 Ford 9" rear ends I have in my garage
If you sell her truck both her and her uncle are going to hold a little grudge FOREVER. "Li'l whippersnapper sold the good truck I sold im for my niece, I'll never help im again." That sort of thing. Avoid the headache, let her keep what she wants. Just DON'T mention PMS.
Women are strange creatures. My wife doesn't appreciate some of the great gifts I've given her - like the welder, the drill press, the compressor.

What I see here, is that for some reason she likes HER truck. And I think we all get like that - even if we have to drive a rust-bucket or Che.... -Well, one of THEM.
*shrugs*
Build the Lady a motor...
And if you can nab the crew at the same time do it!
But respect the Lady's ride, as she respects yours, ya know?
-Ain't no accountin' fer the female of the species, but lord what would we do without 'em....
O.K. frst I bought it for her from my uncle when he bought a Ford. He wants me to sell it because he feels guilty everytime somthing breaks. Two years after buying it the fuel tank switch went out and he still is trying to get me to let him pay for it. Since we have moved off of the farm she has no need for the truck and never drives it (It sat in the carport from Nov to April untill I finnaly went out and started driving it. Now I am the only one driving it as she has taken over my Bronco. Tat is why I can't sell one of mine to get the crew cab, because the Chev will still be sitting there rotting away and I can't stand to see a rig just sit there and fall apart. My big thing is she would rather I sold the Ford as she hates it but, never rides in it and I love it. The Chev is hard riding and she is not "in love with it" She can't get that emotional about a car, and she never rides or drives it either.
I have just made my mind up. Bye bye Chevy. If she drove it or was in love with it I would keep it,but she isn't and doesn't. I'll get my 4x4 f-350 crewcab and she can keep the Bronco (as she has already started calling it her car). Cool prob solved.
Thanks all

(As he goes skipping down the hall, "I am going to get my crewcab"!!!!

Wolf,
I already rebuilt the motor about 20,000 miles ago and it runs like a raped ape. At the same time I did the running gear from the breaks up. It has a t-400 auto with widened bearings (they're from a c-6) and a tranny cooler bigger than most peoples radiators. I think the best thing to do here is get rid of hers and let her keep the Bronco that she has taken over as her car. As she has just told me she thinks that we should get rid of both p-ups :-staun and just use the utility trailer with "her" Bronco.
