Does anyone know where the adjustment of the torsion bar is? I noticed two bolts at the end of the torsion bar towards the center of the expedition, do I just adjust it there? If so, how do I adjust it to get a higer ride? I've replaced my front suspension with ranchos as mentioned in another thread. So I should get at least 1 inch of hieght. Any ideas?
You're on the right track. About three full revolutions (clockwise)will get you approximately 1" more in front-end height. Do the job on a level surface and measure with a tape to get it precise.
Thanks buzzard, I figured I need an alignment anyway so I'd go for a small extra lift. I've already gained about 5 inches using a 3" body lift and changing the front suspension disabling the front lls. Will see.
Does anyone know the max lift I could get doing this? The ranchos I used extend to 20" roughly. If I'm not mistaken the original shocks extened to 19" does that mean I can only get 1inch? Or can I max it out more?
I've read a lot about torquing the torsion bars. You can get more lift than an inch, but there's a big debate as to the affects on driveline and suspension angles. Many insist that these components are overly stressed if a guy goes too far. Plus you really stress the bars themselves. I've heard of a few breaking.
An alignment is a great idea after the adjustments.
