Question Diablo Chip Help!

I just bought a 98 F150 ext.cab 4X4 w/4.6 v8
It has 94000 miles, Will a diablo chip be a good idea or not?
Im not sure if miles would make a big differance or if it is worth putting the chip in at all. I have heard good things about the chip but sounds like they are on all new models.
Any Ideas
Thanks

I have a 1997 F150 4.6 manual w/ 105000. I will be putting a chip in it here as soon as it arrives (shipped friday). Good idea or bad, don't really care, just want the performance.

Thanks for the info, I was just not sure if the chip would end up being a bad thing for the truck since its been run in the stock set up for so long. I did put exhaust and an intake on it and noticed that it seemed to run alot better! From the way it sounds from reading everyone elses post the chip will make a big difference and right now mine seems to be alittle slugish. Let me know how it works for you. Thanks

It shouldn't give you any trouble. Also, if you ever get rid of that truck, you can keep the chip and have it reprogrammed for another Ford car or truck unless you get brand new because I don't know if the new F-250's are chipable. I'm getting one for my Ranger, 116,000 miles.

Hey, Thanks for the info I was just reading some more about diablo, and I am really close to placing the order. The only question I have is Hypertech any better the Diablo ? The only reason I ask is from (hear say) from friends who really don't know. I like most have to pass this kind of purchase through the board (wife) and I just want the upgrade to be noticable (well at least to me Ha Ha!! ) They are easy to convince!

Does anyone have the 87 octane program? If so was it worth it ?
I am looking at getting the diablo 2 stage and was thinking of adding the 87 but I've been reading about that program and it sounds like it would be better to just stick with the premium.
Also if I have the 2 stage how does the lighted switch work and what are the positions or is it not needed .

The 87 octane burn doesnt give you much in the way of power. It primarily only changes youre shift points. If you are serious about maximizing the chip, you need to run the 91+ program. Cant help you on the lighted switch.

Is the premium program set up for 91+ and if so, if I want to run 92 or 93 do I need a differant program?

I believe they can custom tweak it to the proper octane setting. Ken (aka Webmaster) will be along, and he should be able to tell you exactly what can be done for you.

With a Diablo we program for 92 octane. You can sometimes get away with 91 depending on the fuel quality and conditions (humidity, stock PCM code, altitude, etc.). If you have higher octane than 92 we can program for that as well.

The primary benefit of an 87 octane tune is improved transmission programming. It won't do much for power. Unless you have a lead foot, a chip or tuner will usually increase you mileage enough in premium fuel mode to break even or at least make the fuel cost difference minor.

Hypertech has been in the business a long time and makes good products. The primary difference between Hypertech and Superchips & Diablo Sport is that Hypertech accomplishes its power tuning primarily at wide open throttle (about 80% or more throttle) while Superchips/Diablo Sport tuning for all RPMs and throttle positions. All three companies offer a thirty day money back guarantee. If you tried all three odds are high you'd keep the Diablo Sport first, the Superchips second and Hypertech third, IMHO. I don't think any would disappoint you, but you may be more impressed with some than others.
