heater core

is the heater core in a 01 F150 under the dash on the passenger side? i noticed a gurgling sound[water bubbling?]
coming from that area after i shut off my truck tonight.
can't see any signs of a leak at all. anything to be
concerned about?

thanks

The heater core is located under the dash (WAY UNDER THE DASH). The reason you do not see anything leaking is because there is a catch pan/box to prevent fluids from leaking into the cab.

To replace the core, you pretty much have to remove the entire dash. Kind of a whole weekend project.....but cheaper to do it yourself than pay a shop 8 to 10 hours of labor.

Good luck with it,
Tim

i can't see any evidence of a leak anywhere. wouldn't it
be dripping onto my driveway? the anti freeze level is
staying constant, the defroster and heater work and there is no
a/f smell.could it just be a normal noise as it cools?

thanks

Sorry,

There I go typing before I finish reading

You may be correct, I you do not have that sickening sweet smell of anti-freeze coming out of the defrost vents, it may have just been the cooling process that you mentioned.

Sorry if I threw you into a panic for no reason.

Tim
