Heater still just blows warm air in my 1986 f150.
I have replaced the thermostat and flushed the radiator along with the heater core which helped a little bit. Is there any thing else that I can do that may help??? Do I need to replace the core?
It was in the hi 70,s here today!
Do you want warm, hot , or cool?
Not trying to br sarcastic, I had to turn my heater off out under the hood. The temp control cable is broken and I have been too lazy to replace it.
really dont need it much here but it snowed here this morning and a good wind chill
checked cabels and all is working even damper
would like to get heater warmer.
I'd check the themostat and replace with a 195. You'll get heat then. I've seen a lot of truck where the previous owner took out the 'stat (for no reason).
replacing the heater core with do nothing. You need to make sure your truck is actually reaching operating temperature (ie get a mechanical gauge).
Sometimes the heater hoses will collaps on the inside specially if they are old, and sometimes the heater core will get restricted with a build up of scale and sludge. Try to back flush and see if anything comes out. replace the hoses if they are too old. If you dont have a good flow through the core then you might have to replace it.
Sombody might have put stop leak in it at some point in time.
since you have already replacet the thermostat the hoses and core may be the next part.
You could get a thermometer and put the thermostat in a pot of water and heat it and see what degres it opens at and let it cool to see if it is closing right.
