window coating

I have a question I am hoping someone has come across. I bought a 2004 F150 and my radar detector no longer works properly. I went to a local electronics store and they told me that if the windshield was coated with a metalic coating it would cause the radar detector to malfunction. I have check the vehicle specs and can not locate any information on the coating... does anyone know what if anything is in or on the windshields? Is this situation a common thing with the F150's?
thanks for any help you can give me

lv2ref2; If the vehicle that you purchased has a cold climate package, in some of these packages ther is an electric front windshield defroster that will cause what you are describing, some of the lincolns have the factory solar tint that will cause again the same problem, I hope this will help you.

lv2ref2; Some other window coating can also cause the same problems some of your highend window tint products that contain
alumnium, titanium & various other metals can cause radar anomilies, but at least your interior will be nice 4 or 5 years down the road. turbo ted
