For those of you interested in the adjustable pedals available
for the '02 models:
I ordered an '02 Super Duty earlier this week with adjustable
pedals. My dealer called me back a few minutes ago and told
me that the adjustable pedals won't actually be available until
November. Now I just have to decide whether they are worth the
wait
Ordered 14 August 2002:
2002 F-250 2WD SD CC Lariat Short Bed. Red/Parchment. V-10, Auto, 3.73LS. Chrome steps, adjustable pedals, cab lights, tow mirrors, captain's chairs.
I know it's bad form to follow-up to my own post, but for those interested, my wife and I went and tested a SuperCrew with adjustable pedals this afternoon. We found that we both preferred the pedals in the "full-down" position (which would be the same location as the normal pedals). The power seats were more than sufficient to make us both comfortable. So I went ahead and placed the order without the pedal options (and saved $100+ bucks to boot).

I heard there were few changes for 2002. However, I was interested in the adjustable pedals for my spouse. What is your spouse's height? My wife is barely 5 feet. I am hoping to have a new truck in about 6 months. How long before delivery of your truck?

My wife is about 5'4" (I'm 6'0"). My advice would be to go test drive a Supercrew. The power adjustable pedals are standard on them, and from the 2002 SD pics someone posted recently, it looks like the seats in the new SD are just like those in the Supercrew. If you're both comfortable in the Supercrew, I'll bet that the power pedals won't be necessary in the SD (and you won't have to wait until November to decide).
The dealer estimated it'd be six weeks until delivery.

won't moving the seat back and forth do the same thing? They put too much crap into todays p/up that are already too overpriced! If the driver and the passenger are two different heights then this is where a 60/40 split bench or captains chairs come into play. maybe i have totally missed the concept of adjustable pedals but it's just something else to go wrong.

Well, in theory, adjustable pedals would allow someone who is "altitudinally challenged" (i.e., short) to keep the seat farther away from the steering wheel, and more importantly, the airbag.
Plus, I liked the thought of being able to move my pedals around during long trips in order to reposition my legs occasionally. However, after playing with this in a SCrew, I decided I'd never use it anyway.

good point about the air bag. to be trully safe an air bag has to be fully inflated before a person comes into contact with it. injuries caused by the air bag occurs when the driver (or passenger)comes into contact with it (air bag) when it is still inflating.
I saw a F250 going down the road this week on a transport truck in a color I had not seen before. So after work I went down to the lot where they off load. The new color was dark shadow grey metallic clearcoat. I also noticed on the invoice that it came equipped with "adjustble brake and gas pedals!! ($120) Looking inside you could see the pull lever to adjust the pedals. This was a 2002 F250 2wd extended cab powerstroke.
I think this is a good option for my wife. She has to pull the seat all the way forward in her little car to drive comfortably. She is practically hugging the steering wheel. Makes me very uncomfortable thinking about what would happen if the air bag was to deploy! I know whenever (soon I hope!)I get my truck she will have to drive occasionally.
That's quite interesting that you've seen one, r_howell. I wonder what the deal is. My dealer said that when they entered the code for it as they were ordering my truck, that it refused it as not yet available, and when they checked, they were told November. Oh well, I'm satisfied with my decision to leave them off.
