New Explorer - new problems
1. Yesterday, driving back from L.A. to Phoenix, I was cruising at 75mph, and suddenly the speedometer started to jump all the way past 85mph indicator and would 'peg' at the far end of the scale. This was accompianied by a slight 'buzzing' or crackling sound coming from the instrument cluster. At first this problem was intermitent, but the more I drove, the more it happened, until by the time I reached Phoenix, the needle was pegged all the time. Now whenever I go over 55mph, the needle pegs and the buzzing sound occurs. What is this?
2. I have noticed that if I drive the vehicle in the 'Overdrive' position on the gear selector, the transmission seems to be sluggish, almost like it is starting off in 2nd gear or something. If I put the gear selector in the normal 'D' or drive position, the vehicle is much more peppy taking off from a stop, and the shifting is much more positive through the three gears. I have owned a 93 Explorer, and would normally drive the car in the 'Overdrive' position, with no noticeable difference in shifting between that selection and the 'D' position. Anyone have any input on this?
Thanks in advance, everyone!
