New Member: 1st Question

I'd like to 1st say that I'm very happy to have found this forum. I own an "88 F-150. It's a great truck, but it has a few minor problems to work out. I hope this forum will be of great help with Info.
1st Question: I recently bought some used (NOS) Ford rims to put on my pickup. I was told they would fit. They need repainting and prior to undertaking this, I decided to try to find some info on what they came off of and looked like originally. What I found was that the wheels/rims came of a 1995 Bronco, and are not listed as "fitting" an '88 PU.
Both are 5 Stud 5.5 inch. What's the difference? Will these wheels work OK on an '88 F-150? Thanks

They should be fine, both using a standard offset. You should test-fit one on the front and check for clearance over your manual hubs, etc (just in case!)

1st Question

Thank you for your reply.
I talked to the people at Ackley (?) wheels and they said that they would bolt on OK, but that they would stick into the wheel well further than stock '88 rims. Thus possibly causing steering problems (ie: Less radius).
They recccomended unspecified "smaller" tires. I assume these rims were intended for large off road tires, but I just run standard 235-75-15's.
Does that sound OK?
P.S. If you email me, I can send picks of the rime in question. (I'm on Webtv and cannot post pic's)
Thanks Again.

They way to tell is to measure the backspacing between the inner edge of the wheel and the mounting surface where the wheel will mount to the hub. If this is the same or less that your current wheels, you're good to go.

I wouldn't mount them if they are inset more..

Pardon my ignorance! The replacement wheels are the same, but you should measure your offsets to make sure the OEM wheel offsets are the same.
