I have a 95 Eddie Bauer (5.8) with factory trailer tow package, and recently the running (or parking) lights on the towed vehicle have stopped working. The brake lights and electric brakes still work, but no running lights. I have checked the outlet, and I know that somewhere between the dash and the rear outlet I am losing the power.
Any ideas or experiances with this problem? I suppose I need to find a wiring schematic, locate the source and start tracing it back to the plug. But maybe someone else has had the same problem and knows exactly where to look to fix it.
I agree with BillyBob. The trailer package adds an extra fuse panel. Its under the hood and in front of the mastercylinder. The owner's manual provides info on it.
Are you sure it's the truck? How many different trailers have you tried? The grounds to trailer lights are terrible. Before you go further, I'd suggest checking for voltage at the plug. If you do have power, have a look in the trailer plug sockets for corrosion .
