Mine seems to keep most of the bugs off the windshield. But there a alot to choose from, JCWhitney has about a dozen styles. I've heard that some of the high profile bugshields may cause wind noise or cause the hood to shake a high speeds. I've never had problems with mine. I don't remember what brand it is, I got it for my old 2000 and took it off and put it on my 2002. All models designed for 97' to 03' F150 should fit, but some require drilling for screws and some don't. I used both screws and 3M tape to make sure it was nice and tight (I got a pic in my gallery). Hope that helps good luck.
I got a Ford factory, low profile on my 150. It mounts easily, deflects bugs and most of all, prevents rock chips on the leading edge of the hood.
My experience with the higher ones (on my 250) is wind turbulance at the windshield. The washers wouldn't work at speed and the wipers got thrown around.
