I know several builders are in the process of installing the reverse tilt hood on their 53-56 trucks. This weekend I was making some final adjustments to my hood so that the hood is level with the cowl. On the driver's side I know that I have had clearance problems before. I discovered there is a small amount of steel edge that protrudes on the inside of the hood . This is what was causing my clearance problem. I ground it off and tada! John
John, your timing on this post is EXCELLENT!! I am just about ready to start the paint and body on my hood. The tilt hardware has already been painted. My plan was to finish the hood, install the hardware and just adjust the hood as required. Sounds like Murphy may be watching so it would probably be a good idea to install and adjust everything BEFORE I do paint and body work on the hood. Sounds like a new plan
Thank God for touch-up paint. I really like the reverse tilt hoods, but I have noticed several trucks with the same "close encounters" I have had in the same place. I am starting to think that there may be a similar tab of metal on the inside edge of certain year hoods or even on all of them. Good luck, John
