Tilt Wheel broke...
Does anyone know how to take the steering column apart on a 90 Ford Bronco? The tilt steering is broke and it is in low position and kind of gets in the way. Do any of you know how to take the column apart so I can fix it?

I did it on my 88. You need a steering wheel puller, obviously. also some small screw drivers. I don't know if you have an air bag. Just go in from top and yank the cruise control wiring and blinkers and let it hang to the side. There are alot of small parts so be careful. Next will come the mechanical linkage for the key, I think you have to take that out of the way. Then you can take off the 2 plastic covers on the column. Then you will see the lever and the main gear for the tilt wheel. it looks like a quarter circle with some mean teeth on it. I can definetly tell you it is a bitch fighting with the heavy duty spring for the tilt. Give your self atleast 3 hours, get some extra hands to reset the spring, and I hope you don't suffer from fat fingers cause they don't help much in that tight space!! Good Luck, You'll need it!!!
