thinking about installing a remote oil filter

thinking about installing a remote oil filter, or adapter, for my 5.4 4x4. the location of the filter on this truck (as well as my wife's 5.4 expy) makes it tough to change the filter without making a mess. anyone have any good/bad experience with remote installs? the main pro for me would be that i would mount the remote so that it's much easier to change. i'm a little worried about voiding warranty and any adverse effects on the oiling system of the engine.

In 1998/9 (I believe), Ford has remote filters on the 4.6 and 5.4. The filter was mounted behind the front bumper. It sure made it nice to change
Of course it cost extra money to have them there so they got rid of that idea

wonder if ford sells it as a kit? called my local ford dealer parts dept. yesterday and i'm not sure if the guy i talked to even knew what an oil filter was. needless to say, he didn't know anything about a remote kit or adapter. i know there are plenty of aftermarket kits, but i'd prefer to use a ford sanctioned part so there is no dispute if a warranty issue comes up.

I dont think Ford sells it as a kit but if you found a good partsman he could look up all the neccessary parts. I'd guess though that the Ford parts will be quite expensive.
