Hi all, recently I got from a yard an E4OD wich was rebuild by Ford, it has one sticker at side "Quality Renewal by Ford", after disasembly Surprise... all components are almost new ! ! ! Even clucht disk still having part numbers full visible...
Well tranny has a dateplate at side and I want some help to understand the info:
DATE: 200-6
FOTZ-7000-GRM <<< could be FQTZ
R-380178
I want know how decode date, because I'll need this info to know if need some upgrade.
More over; I found a small filter UNDER reinforcement plate (Not the filter locate OVER plate) this doesn't appear in my Ford Shop manual 1991 so I guess it could be some upgrade for trany but I don't remember where it was located Any ideas???
I'm planning just clean parts and re-assembly and also change output shaft to convert it to 4X4. Someone told me the oil pan and maim oil filter are also differents to 4X2 model, is this true??
I too have a 1995 2WD E4OD that I would like to convert to 4WD, using components from a 1994 Bronco E4OD. A tranny shop tech has led me to believe that this would not be an easy thing to do. True? Or is he just trying to get a rebuild job out of the deal?
As far as I know, it's necessary disassembly thw whole tranny, because he needs replace output shaft.
My parts book say just a few parts are different like output shatf, output cover, 2 bolts on output cover, main oil filter, oil pan and one more part I don't remember name...
Hope someone can point me to WEB page or pictures to reasembly my tranny
