1981 250 questions

hey alll

i saw an 81 f250 straight six 4 speed 4wd on the side of the road for sale yesterday. i have been looking at 70's truck to get around the dyno emmision testing we have here in jersey now. my question is, does the 250 have easier standards to pass due to its higher gvw then a 150? i know its getting harder to pass early 80s truck around here, and i dont wanna get into something i cant get inspected. now the toss up is between 79 100 2wd straight six, this 81 250 straight six 4wd needs clutch, and an 84 150 4wd 351w ... been sitting a while needs serious carb cleaning. all roughly same price, all needing slightly different things. the 79 is pretty much driveable, both 4wd's need a bit of work. i basically need something to drive so i dont have to use my cobra every day, to haul stuff around, and for when i may buy a house in the near future. i like the 79 for its sheer simplicity, but it is only 2wd. i've owned em all pretty much, just seeing if anyone had any additional logic to make the choice easier.

contrary to what people may tell you... SIZE DOES MATTER! the 250 4X4. Most were catalyst exept for the 460's.

some of the trucks with the high GVW's were exempt for a few years, but it depends on your regional laws
