I'd like to add an additional cigarette lighter under the dash on the driver side for my radar detector. Any of you done this yet?

Can you not hot wire your radar detector directly to the fuse box? I use to do this with my older cars/trucks. It worked great. You just have the wire on the dash and when you need your detector, just plug the wire in the detector. Not sure if you can with the new 04 though. I don't see why not.

Don't bother hot wiring it in, Just buy a double outlet cig adapter.

By the time your Radar Detector Goes off, You have already been clocked by the patrolman.

Believe ME!!!!

The 04' don't have an aux. power outlet? My 02' has two plugs, one for the lighter and an extra one right next to it for your cell phone, radar, ect. Seems like a bad idea not to carry this over to the new model?

its simple to do. at pepboys they have an aux outlet that taps into the existing wire. just find the wire under the dash and there is this pin thst sticks through it to get power. its better than those double outlet adapters because you dont see it. you can mount it under the dash. i think they're around 10 bucks. they are in the ricer section and the brand is type S. they look like they belong in a ricer, but its under the dash so it doesn't matter.
