power steering
alumnium pieces & I am willing to bet that the spools are what
caused the pump to go bad, you need to flush out the entire
power steering system use the seafoam trans flush before you install a new pump. Also when you are doing the flushing of the system on the return line you may want to install an air conditioning oriface tube to catch any debris that the flush may have missed, you will want to leave the oriface tube in for a day or two no more & then take it out & inspect it for more debris, & clean the the tube with some brake parts cleaner only[brake parts cleaner does not leave any residue] & as you are spraying the oriface tube if you notice to much metal just replace it , you may have to do this a total of three times before you can remove all of the contaminates from the system. On the final removal of the oriface tube that you are happy with the cleanlyness of the tube & fluid use a synthetic ATF for fluid this will help the rack from self destructing any further. I have seen your case many of times & this has been the only fix that i could come up with that will help you in not having to replace the rack. Also for further
protection leave the tube in & when you do your oil changes check
the tube for contamination.
