I did research on Platinum Warranty aswell and I found it to be as comprehensive as the Platinum coverage offered by "W.G.", however their Diamond coverage exceeds anything Platinum Warranty Corp. can offer, apples and organes. The other thing that kind of bothered me about Platinum is that they have only been selling to the public for a few years and just recently they changed their name to Warranty Wizzard, again this doesnt however say its a bad coverage just that there is better coverage out there. I am definetly a "WG" customer for life after what happened with the Ford ESP Plan. Getting good feedback, it is much appreciated.
If any of you decide to buy an extended warranty it is a must you contact my sales person, his name is Clint and he is sharp, if you mention my name he will give you a great deal. If you buy I get a $50 referral fee so make sure you mention my name, Dr. Brockweilde. If you call talk with Clint at 1.800.580.9889 ext.4758, he will cut you a heck of a deal, this is my third warranty through them, if you want my experiences with them feel free to email me and I will respond accordingly.
When I bought my 99 contour the dealer ofered me an extended warenty for 2,200...Nice of them since i went on the internet and knew i could get the same thing for 750.00... Now the car is 3 yrs old (to me) and the warenty will apply... Iam not saying its good or bad...Just don`t let the dealer rip you off and steal your money!!
What have others paid to the dealers for the New Car/Truck warenty out the door!!
Most extended plans are just money insurance policy`s... they have a limit that the company will pay in a certain amount of time ...Like 1,500 worth of repair cost in any 6 month period....
Well actually my Warranty Gold contract does not limit me to $1500 per repair, I mean an engine repair would cost far more than that depending I guess on exactly what it is. My contract through WG will pay up to the actual cash value of the vehicle at the time of purchase, therefore if my cars value is $20,000 then my repairs cannot exceed that amount.
Well I just went for warranty work one of my other vehicles, it went as planned, no problem getting authorization, no problem getting the Ford dealership paid. I hope the new contract I purchased pays off for me like this one did. Anyone else had other dealings with "WG" or any other company?
With 16 years in the car business, maybe I can provide a slightly different perspective. The idea of putting away $50 a month in a special "warranty" account is a good one, but how realistic is it? How many people are that dedicated? More importantly, what about the young couple on a super-tight budget with NO spare cash? They're barely making the monthly car payment, and the transmission goes south- how do they pay for it? THESE are the buyers that shouldn't be without a warranty, no matter whose it is, yet they are the ones least likely to buy it. As for worrying about buying a lemon, that's what lemon laws are for, and most states today have them. ROB makes an interesting point that I've argued for years: high mileage = low wear. Think about it- every mile on the interstate is easy on the engine (a V8 is just loafing @ 65mph), and there is NO wear on all the items that you're NOT using: brakes, windows, transmission, door hardware, seats, etc... But that low mileage car that some little old lady only drove 3 miles once a week- that vehicle has really led a harder life. Yet, that's the vehicle everybody wants to buy. Go figure. Out of time for now, my next post will tell you what to watch out for in ANY extended warranty.
PLEASE NOTE: I'm a Ford salesperson with 16 years in the industry, having worked in sales, service, and administration. I am NOT trying to sell any one a vehicle through this site, and I will not reveal to any of you where I work. I feel this is the only way I can maintain my credibility with the public. I teach a course in how to buy a car, and I do the same thing there. I'm there to teach, not to sell. I'll be glad to answer any questions, or discuss any concerns you may have, as long as the tone remains civil. No one knows better than I the caliber of certain car salesmen- it's why I tell most strangers I deal drugs, rather than sell cars. PLease remember there are a few human beings left in this business, and I'm proud to say I happen to be one of them. My ID refers not to me, but my favorite car: the incomparable 1956 Continental Mark II
You made some valid points in your last post "20" about how the ones who need it cant afford it, as for putting $50 back in an account for repairs, many people don’t maintenance the account appropriately or neglect to set back the cash. If you can finance it interest free through a company that could be an affordable alternative. I know while I was in College my expendable income didn’t allow me to pay in full for my car warranty so I was fortunate enough to be able to pay for it over the course of several months.
