5.4L Engine Noise

I have a 99 250SD 4x4 5.4 l V-8 5-spd w/ 70,000 miles. During acceleration from 2,000 to 2,250 RPM's I hear a distinct knock in the engine. It seems as if it is from the passenger side of the engine, but that may be due to me sitting on the other side. Does any one have a possible cause or explanation for this noise. Thanks

Could it be the infamous "piston slap" ? I hope not, does it do it all the time or just during acceleration? Does it sound like pinging (marbles in a can)?

5.4L Engine Noise

Maybe exhaust leak? My 90 F250HD had warped stock exhaust manifolds on both sides. Usually could really tell it when cold at idle and on cold acceleration. Sounded like sticky lifters but was exhaust leaks.
