You can post that in the diesel section on here at FTE.
Or if you have no luck go to www.dieselstop.com and post it. There is a lot of diesel knowledge there, not saying there is not here. But its, I believe its a diesel only site.
JEFFGO, had similar probs like you, it chould be map sensor or maybe you need latest update. reflash. had that done to mine and it fixed the prob. just my thoughts. 01psd.
01PSD, what is the latest update/flash and how dodyou do it?
jeffgo, I have a 01 F350 crew and have had the same problems. Started out getting good milage but the longer I have it the worse it gets. I do regular maintenance and have added mods (like everyone else) that were suppose to help with fuel economy but I'm at around 14mpg and holding. Talked to the dealer (for what it's worth) and he said that thats normal for that truck.
gburkett. a reflash is a update to your PCM it can only be done by a ford dealer. they plug into your truck and thru there computer, they update your PCM code. all trucks have different codes, based on different equipment. like trans and other equip. here, are my reflash codes. by the local dealer here. 1u7a-fua these, are the numbers they put on the sticker. hope this helps you out. dont see how dealer chould say that 14 mpg is as good as it gets cause there are too many people out there getting better than, that. as far as the map sensors is concerned I replaced it and my milage went back up to where it was, and I think with the milage that I get on this truck im real happy. any time you can get a 7000pound truck to get that kind of milage 20/22 over a 5000. gasser getting15/17 something must be right. thanks. 01psd
Thanks 01PSD, I appreciate the info. I think I will try a new map sensor. Did you just go to the dealer and asked them to update your pcm? I'm just wondering if the dealer here will do it if I request it or if there needs to be something wrong. Anyway, I appreciate you taking the time.

Forgive me for temporarily high jacking this thread, but I didn't know there was a flash for the 7.3. My X is kind of doing the same thing jeffgo's truck is doing but, its an on and off kind of thing. Where is the MAP sensor? I think mine may need replacing.
gburket, I whould try update first, cause it is the less expensive. just go to dealer they will check your code, then advise you if one is available for yours. mine was dated 11-23-03 so maybe yours can be updated. if that doesnt help you then try new map sensor I hope this helps you. when I had mine done both were done same day, thats why I cant pin point which one worked. my instinks tell me it was the reflash, because it does some mods to shift on trans, and other things as well thanks for getting back. 01psd
Thanks 01PSD, appreciate the info. think I will at least go talk to them and see if there are any updates then go from there.
just gotta love this forum and the people on it!!
I second what NoMo said. Change the fuel filter and completely drain the fuel bowl. Fill it up with something like Standyne lubricity formula when you change it. It's amazing how a dirty fuel filter can effect mileage. It's also possible that your K&N let some dirt pass. I would recommend ditching the K&N for either a stock paper filter or a Tymar or AFE if you want an aftermarket intake.
