I have a 1988 f-150 with 4.9L and a mazda 5 speed. I keep having problems with the pins that hold the shifter in place. Does anyone know if anyone makes these pins? Any help would be appreciated.
I have a 1988 too. I've replaced those pins 2x (238k miles). I found a transmision shopin White Sprinsg Fla that sells them. Theyre' kinda expensive, about $10 bucks each, but are easy to replace and tighten up your shifter, so it doesn't flop all around. They can be replaced carefully without moving the trans.
from what i was told for my M5OD, there is also a plastic nut in there that tightens up the shifter, and you have to drop the transmission to do it.
Then again, they said they rebuilt my shifter cage also. Whatever the hell they were talkin about. They didn't charge me for that so. *shrugs*
I can understand the plastic nut thing, Cause that would break.
more information on where the pins are would be helpfull.
