Rough ride.... my bad
I have a 99 ranger XLT 4x4 with a 1.5" torsion bar crank and 31" Bridgestone Dueller A/T Revo's and I was wondering what shocks would make the ride less harsh up front. There is a considerable difference when I hit speed bumps up front compared to the back... it is my fault for cranking the bars though. b I was looking at RS5000, but I wasn't sure how they rode.

The Ranchos will most likely make the truck ride rougher, unless you went with RS9000X's, which are adjustable, and turn them way down. KYB Gas-A-Just's are a rough shock and Bilsteins are firm too. Most likely any gas charged truck shock will firm up the ride rather than soften it. Sorry I dont really have an answer for you.

By cranking the torsion bars you will suffer with poor ride quality and there is little you can do to help other than return the bars to their factory position. In stock form those trucks don't have more than 3" of suspension droop. By cranking the bars up 1.5" you effectively cut that down to 1.5" of droop. This means you not only get a stiffer ride from cranking the bars but the suspension will top out very easily and create an even rougher ride.
I'm no fan of body lifts but my suggestion woud be to return the bars to stock and get a 2" body or learn to deal w/ the harsh ride.
