Question C-6 or AOD

I am having a hard time figuring out which transmission to use. I will be using the truck for around town and towing my toy (74 Bronco) to rock crawling events. I have a C-6 and a BW1345 transfercase now (not installed yet), would the AOD be worth the extra $$$ for what I want to use the truck for.

c6 is a tougher tranny. I've never had an AOD, but the vibe I get from this forum is that the AOD wasn't made to tow and wouldn't last as long as a c6.

Personally I'd stick with the c6 just cause they're solid for an automatic and cost less to fix if you do have a problem.

well the C-6 is a bullt proof trans and can handle just about anything, the aod does have the overdrive but for towing its not worth it because the aod is not nearlly as tough as a C-6, but also what motor are you runing, a C-6 only bolts up to a 351m, 400m, 429, 460, the aod will only bolt to the little ones 289, 302, 351w, the 351 claevland im not sure on

Hmm weak AOD that will die towing a Bronco, or a power hungry pig C6...........time to hang a clutch pedal

If you must go auto do the C6 the small block bellhousing bolt pattern ones litter the junkyards and can be had in working condition for $100 here

I guess I'll stick with the C-6. I purchased it at a salvage yard for $300 with the transfercase, the previous owner blew the motor but said the transmission and transfer case were fine.
