If you use Synthetic compressor oil in an oil compessor the compressor will probably out last you. Its available from suppliers of commercial compressors, look in your local yellow pages. Dino oil in air compressors form carbon rings at the top and bottom of the stroke and slowly eat away the rings. PS do not use Engine Synthetic oil. In a oil less compressor the stroke is shorter so you don't get as much side to side tugging and the rings are designed to float on a cushion of air. They still wear out, and one in daily use will have to be rebuilt in two to five years, the airfilter makes a big difference here.
