This is normal. all my Fords do this! There are only so many wires going to the column for the steering wheel buttons. Fords uses a switch matrix without diodes to sense the switch contacts. Since they assume that you would never press these two buttons at once, they do not think it is a problem!
Same reason my son took my YZ250 apart while I was out of the counrty. Kid can break a balll bearing with a feather!!! Has to know how things work, or actually used to work since he can never put them back together.
