Power Steering Failure

Howdy,
I have noticed that whenever i try to turn while I am at a stop, or slow speed that my truck doesn't like to turn. In fact at a dead stop i cannot turn at all. I checked the fluid levels and power steering seems to be ok. What else can I do?

Check for a loose belt on your steering pump. Just a thought. It might be slipping at slow rpms when you load the pump trying to turn.

does the pump make any noises, such as whining or growling?

it makes a small chirping type noise. I can't exactly describe it. But there is some noise.

most likely your belt is too loose. if you have more than 1/2-3/4" deflection it can slip

Mud .. If there isnt fluid leaking from the steering box and if the belt isnt slipping or the pulley slipping on the shaft, there isnt much to do except change the pump. You could find someone who has a high pressure guage and check the pressure being made at the pump to make sure the pump is ok (or not).
