I switched my motorcraft 2100 2 barrel carb from a 390 into a 1966 f100 with a 352 before i switched the carb when it was on the other truck it ran perfect not one flaw everything worked just as it should took it off moved to the 66 f100 and it hooked up exaclty the same as the bad 2 barrel on it when I crank it now it runs but sounds like it is sucking air has a high pitched whine it get louder with higher rpms I have tinckerd with it and just get it a little better but ticks me off worked on the other truck the same day any suggestions would be helpful searched forum couldn't find any relatedtopics The 352 ran good before swap the carb just had a bad hickup and choke not so hot thanks
Sounds like a vacuum leak. Check the gaskets between the PCV spacer and the manifold as well as between the spacer and the carb. I have found some gaskets do not seal around the base of the carb and around the PCV spacer. Make sure the new gaskets give you a complete seal. Good luck.

I thought that might be the problem and have checked or plugged vaccum lines and put new gaskets between the carb and spacer and manifold might be the problem still but i don't think it is
Hey pal, spray some carb cleaner around the outside of the carb while it is running and see if it makes any difference. If it picks up or slows down then you have a vaccum leak that you need to fix. It certainly isn't rocket science with these sweet engines. That is a big part of their apeal!!! At least to me amyway!
You're right. I double checked the outside of the carb last night with ether. The hole where the primary shaft goes through the body seems to be the culprit. I have been told that getting it reshimmed is hard and expensive. So I guess I'll look for a new one. Thanks, John
