I just installed a new fuel filter on my 94 3.0. Like an idiot I wasn't thinking and didn't memorize which way the old fuel filter was originally situated. I gave it a guess and I have the fuel line coming from the gas tank inserted into the flat end portion of the fuel filter and I have the other end which is rounded going to the engine. I believe this end has the word "line" with an arrow stamped on it. The car started and stayed running. Does anyone know if I have it in right or if I didn't would the car not start . I looked at my hayes book and the illustration doesn't help.
If my memory serves me correctly, that is the same way I installed mine; I think you're right. Not too sure what would happen if you reversed it, worse case scenario would be that the filter would block fuel flow and you wouldn't be able to start the motor.
The flat part I believe goes to your engine. I am like 90% sure of that. The arrow goes towards the engine because that is the flow of fuel. Good luck!
IF your van started and is still running then it's in the right way. My father put his in backwards and it wouldn't start. we spent a whole weekend trying to find out why it wouldn't start.
