I posted the following in another location and am getting conflicting responses so I thought I’d post it in this general super duty forum. Any suggestions or advice will be appreciated.
--------------------------
The a/c on my new 01 F-350 crew cab does not seem to be able to keep the cab very cool. Today, about 80-85 outside and had it on max a/c all the way to the blue cool side and tried different blower speeds. Air feels sort of cool blowing out of the vents, but no better than my 89 truck. You really need to point the vents right on your face to keep from overheating. Am I expecting too much or should the a/c in this truck be able to make the cab downright cool?
--------------------------
In different responses, I was told that 50 degrees at the center vents was normal. Then told that it should be closer to 40. One person said their a/c puts out air at 38 to 40 degrees. I took the temp in my vents and it ranges between 51 and 54.
Someone on another board posted this:
“There is a Ford sticker in my engine compartment that reads:
’Ford Authorized Modification A/C 56oz. Per SSM 14301 05507’
This fixed my problem.”
I don't find this sticker under my hood. Any ideas? – Dealer says there is no problem. Thanks
Y2K SDCC. Same problem. Truck is in the shop right now for the second time in part because the A/C doesn't cool the truck well. My last three Chevy trucks combined were never in the shop as much as this Super Duty.
I was always told 50 was a good temperature for conditioned air. In my '97 crew cab its usually pretty easy to keep the front seat very cool in the summer and very warm in the winter, but there is always a 5 degree difference between the front seat and the back. No HVAC ducts to the back seats.
Understand that there is a TSB out on this. Has something to do with a connection on certain truck air conditioning systems being improperly installed, causing loss of cooling effeciency. May want to check out the TSB's on this site to see if your covered.
You may want to search the posts on this one. It seems to me that I read where on some trucks the factory did not put the proper amount of refrigerant in the system. I can't remember if it was on a TSB or not.
