Anyone know how much water sets off the sensor? I had my WIF sensor light start coming on intermitently ( when I braked) then going out. I drained the seperator and got about 3 small globuals of H2O out of it. I'm coming up on 10,000 miles since last fuel filter change. Does that seem l;ike enough H2O to set it off?
I had the same issue. It is supposed to take .2 Pints to trigger the sensor. There is a TSB that covers this issue. The dealer replaced some components and every thing has been fine since.
Mine has never come on before, and the first time I drained it had no H2O at all, nor did it have any at the filter change at 15k, but we've had a lot of rainy cold, misty weather lately, so it might actually not be a defective sensor. I'm kinda watching to see if it reoccurs.

TSB consisted of short in the HCFM. They replaced mine and it is fine. Before I took it in the light would come on sporatically and then it just stayed on. Good Luck
Just have this issue last week with my dealer. Took my truck in because the check engine lite came on. They told me that there was water in the fuel, the water sensor lite never came on. The dealer want $195.00 to remove the water from the fuel I told them that they should do it for free because the water sensor never came on. I ended up in the customor sevice deptment at the dealship and they agreed with me. The sevice dept couldn't tell why the water sensor didn't come on. Since then the check engine lite has come on two more time in less than a week. I drainned the seperator myself and the check lite would go out and again no water sensor reaction. The two times I drainned the seperator there was no water to be found. This time the check engine lite just stayed on.
I run fuel additive in my fuel every tank and have never had even 1 drop of water and that is on 3 trucks, I believe they have had some problems with the fuel moduel that is causing the light to malfunction they replaced mine because of codes but the light never came on.
Bad sensor... I just had mine replaced last weekend...The service manager said there are a ton of trucks with bad sensors and they don't even check'em they just replace them now..Just take it in and they'll put in a new one no problem...My light was coming on all the time wheather I drained it or not....
Does anyone have a reference on the TSB? I am definitely having this problem, but my service writer hasn't heard about it and I can't find it on the TSB link here. Service manager says its bad fuel.
Symptoms: light on more than it is off. Draining HCFM completely has no effect.
Fuelling (3) 7.3 liters and (1) 6.0 liter off of the same above ground steel tank. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some water in it due to condensation, but we've never had a WIF light come on in the other 3 trucks since we started using this tank (2 years).
Running the 6.0 Liter off truck stop diesel instead (a HUGE operational issue for the company) also had no effect.
